Helsinki Regional Transport Authority HSL to cooperate with Worlds 2017

The Worlds2017 organization and the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority HSL will work together during the figure skating World Championships in late March - early April. More than 65,000 spectators are expected to attend the competition, which takes place from 29 March to 2 April in Hartwall Arena, a venue that is easily accessible via public transport from the metropolitan area. Both HSL and the competition organization recommend using public transport to travel to the Arena.

The Figure Skating World Championships will be the most important sporting event in the metropolitan area during Finland’s centenary celebration year. HSL supports the event by granting free travel in the regional area to a thousand accredited officials, competitors and volunteers during the competition. In addition, HSL is prepared to arrange additional services when necessary.

In return, HSL receives visibility in the Worlds2017 marketing communications as well as complimentary tickets that will be raffled out to its customers. The first raffle is organized between 5-31 January 2017 at www.hsl.fi/asiakasedut.

"HSL wants public transport to be the number one choice for both commuter and leisure journeys. Traveling to major events in the regional area is most convenient via public transport, and we aim to do our best so that everybody coming to the competition will find traveling easy and flexible", says HSL's Department Head Mari Flink.

"Green values are important to the Figure Skating World Championships, and the organization actively seeks to reduce the load on the environment caused by the event. Both the Worlds2017 organization and HSL hope that spectators will use public transport to travel to and from the Arena", says Secretary General Henri Nordenswan.

The Figure Skating World Championships will take place in Hartwall Arena between 29 March - 2 April 2017. The five-day event will have high visibility in the media.  An estimated 400 media representatives will attend the event, and an estimated 300 million viewers will be watching the competition on TV.
