Finland 100 years - 2017

Finland became an independent state on 6 December 1917, which means that we celebrate the centenary of Finland´s independence this year in 2017. The ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2017 is one of the main sports events in Finland during this important year. Come and join the celebration!

The centenary celebration year empasises Finland's strengths, such as equality and democracy by offering Finns and all friends of Finland a diverse and international programme of activities, events and more, within Finland and abroad. The celebration is also an opportunity to better understand the history of our country, celebrate the accomplishments of the past 100 years and set the direction for Finland's future successes. A varied programme has been created for the whole year including not only sporting events, but also cultural happenings, societal activities and activities focusing on nature and the environment, the community, arts and culture, children and youth, food, science, research, education, business and much more!
